The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in association with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is in the process of developing an online food safety certification course under IGNOU's Distance Education Programme. This course, of six months duration, is targeted at Local Health Authorities, Food Inspector and personnel from Hospitality and Food Industry. Since this online food safety course would also include video components, it would have advantage of multiple  uses, with applicability to various contexts. With IGNOU's wide network, the food safety course would have nationwide reach and its online mode would offer flexibility to learners to access contents at a time and place convenient to them.
